My Friendship Bracelet Maker Instructional Series

BEFORE YOU BEGIN your friendship bracelet pattern, know how to make the Right Hand Double Knot and Left Hand Double Knot.

1. Pick 3 different colors. (The example uses pink, green & yellow). You will need 2 strands of pink, 2 strand of green and 2 strand of yellow.

2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot ½ inch from fold forming a loop.

3. Attach your ½ inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.

4. This pattern has 12 strings and My Friendship Bracelet Maker has enough holders for only 10 strings. This means you will have 2 loose strings at each end, one to the left of slot 1 and one to the right of slot 10. The strings hanging loose will be referred as #0 and #11. Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use the same color in slots 0,2,4 & 6 (pink), slots 1,3,5 & 7 (green) and slots 8,9,10 & 11 (yellow). This will align the colors of your bracelet pattern.

5. To begin, take string#0 (pink) and make right hand double knot with string#1 (green). String#0 (pink) will now be in slot 1.

6. Take string#2 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string# 3 (green). String #2 (pink) will now be in slot 3.

7. Take string#4 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string#5 (green). String#4 (pink) will now be in slot 5.

8. Take string#6 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string#7 (green). String#6 (pink) will now be in slot 7.

9. Take string#1 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string#2 (green). String#1 (pink) will now be in slot 2.

10. Take string#3 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string#4 (green). String#3 (pink) will now be in slot 4.

11. Take string#5 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string#6 (green). String#5 (pink) will now be in slot 6.

12. Take string#2 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string# 3 (green). String #2 (pink) will now be in slot 3.

13. Take string#4 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string#5 (green). String#4 (pink) will now be in slot 5.

14. Take string#3 (pink) and make a right hand double knot with string#4 (green). String#3 (pink) will now be in slot 4.

15. Take string#8 (yellow) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #7(pink), #6(pink), #5(pink) and #4(pink). String#8 (yellow) will now be in slot 4.

16. Take string#9 (yellow) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #8(pink), #7(pink), #6(pink) and #5(pink). String#9 (yellow) will now be in slot 5.

17. Take string#10 (yellow) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #9(pink), #8(pink), #7(pink) and #6(pink). String#10 (yellow) will now be in slot 6.

18. Take string#11 (yellow) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string#10(pink), #9(pink), #8(pink) and #7(pink). String#11 (yellow) will now be in slot 7.

19. Take string#3 (green) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string#4(yellow), #5(yellow), #6(yellow) and #7(yellow). String#3 (green) will now be in slot 7.

20. Take string#2 (green) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #3(yellow), #4(yellow), #5(yellow) and #6(yellow). String#2 (green) will now be in slot 6.

21. Take string#1(green) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #2(yellow), #3(yellow), #4(yellow) and #5(yellow). String#1 (green) will now be in slot 5.

22. Take string#0 (green) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #1(yellow), #2(yellow), #3(yellow) and #4(yellow). String#0 (green) will now be in slot 4.

23. Take string#8 (pink) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #7(green), #6(green), #5(green) and #4(green). String#8 (pink) will now be in slot 4.

24. Take string#9 (pink) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #8(green), #7(green), #6(green) and #5(green). String#9 (pink) will now be in slot 5.

25. Take string#10 (pink) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string#9(green), #8(green), #7(green) and #6(green). String#10 (pink) will now be in slot 6.

26. Take string#11 (pink) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #10(green), #9(green), #8(green) and #7(green). String#11 (pink) will now be in slot 7.

27. Take string#3 (yellow) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #4(pink), #5(pink), #6(pink) and #7(pink). String#3 (yellow) will now be in slot 7.

28. Take string#2 (yellow) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #3(pink), #4(pink), #5(pink) and #6(pink). String#2 (yellow) will now be in slot 6.

29. Take string#1 (yellow) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #2(pink), #3(pink), #4(pink) and #5(pink). String #1 (yellow) will now be in slot 5.

30. Take string#0 (yellow) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #1(pink), #2(pink), #3(pink) and #4(pink). String#0 (yellow) will now be in slot 4.

31. Take string#8 (green) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #7(yellow), #6(yellow), #5(yellow) and #4(yellow). String#8 (green) will now be in slot 4.

32. Take string#9 (green) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #8(yellow), #7(yellow), #6(yellow) and #5(yellow). String#9 (green) will now be in slot 5.

33. Take string#10 (green) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #9(yellow), #8(yellow), #7(yellow) and #6(yellow). String#10 (green) will now be in slot 6.

34. Take string#11 (green) and make 4 left hand double knots. Make one left handed double knot on each string, moving from left to right on string #10(yellow), #9(yellow), #8(yellow) and #7(yellow). String#11 (green) will now be in slot 7.

35. Take string#3 (pink) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #4(green), #5(green), #6(green) and #7(green). String#3 (pink) will now be in slot 7.

36. Take string#2 (pink) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #3(green), #4(green), #5(green) and #6(green). String#2 (pink) will now be in slot 6.

37. Take string#1 (pink) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #2(green), #3(green), #4(green) and #5(green). String#1 (pink) will now be in slot 5.

38. Take string#0 (pink) and make 4 right hand double knots. Make one right handed double knot on each string, moving from right to left on string #1(green), #2(green), #3(green) and #4(green). String#0 (pink) will now be in slot 4.

39. At this point you have completed one rotation of the pattern. Repeat steps 15-38.
40. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist use strings 0-5 to make one braid, tying a knot at the end. Then use strings 6-11 to create another braid, tying a knot at the end of that braid. These two braided strands will be used to tie on your friendship bracelet.

41. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the butterfly clip and cut off the extra string after the knot on your braids. Your new friendship bracelet is now ready to wear or share!

BEFORE YOU BEGINknow how to make a Single Right Hand Knot.

4. Hold all of your strings in one hand and take 2 strings (of the same color) in your other hand.

5. Using both strings, create a single right-handed knot. Continue making right-handed knots with this one color until you want to switch colors.

6. When you want to change colors simply place the strings your knotting with back into your bunch of threads. Pick two other threads (of the same color) and pull to the side.

7. Use your two new threads together to create single right-handed knots.

8. Continue the pattern of single right-handed knots until your ready to switch colors. Remember to simply combine the strings you’re knotting with back with the bunch and pull out two new threads to knot with.

Note: If the string you’re knotting with starts to twist around the bracelet you can move the string under the bracelet and then continue knotting.

9. When you’re ready to finish use all of your strings to tie a double knot to finish your bracelet.

10. Cut off the loose ends and unclip your bracelet. Now you’re ready to wear and share!

BEFORE YOU BEGIN your friendship bracelet pattern, know how to make the Right Hand Double Knot and Left Hand Double Knot. You will also need to know the Single Right Single Left Hand Knot and Single Left Single Right Hand Knot.

1. Pick 3 different colors. (The example uses white, red & dark green). You will need 1 strand of white, 2 strands of red & 3 strands of dark green.

2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot ½ inch from fold forming a loop.

3. Attach your ½ inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.

4. Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use the same color in slot 1 (white), slots 3, 5, 7 & 9 (red) & slots 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 (green). You will have one extra green strand & one extra white strand that you will need to cut close to your knot. This will align the strings of your bracelet pattern.

5. To begin, take string #2 (green) and make a left hand double knot with string #1 (white). String #2 (green) will now be in slot 1.

6. Take string #4 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #3 (red). String #4 (green) will stay in slot 4.

7. Take string #6 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #5 (red). String #6 (green) will stay in slot 6.

8. Take string #8 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (red). String #8 (green) will stay in slot 8.

9. Take string #10 (green) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #9 (red). String #10 (green) will stay in slot 10.

10. Take string #2 (white) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (red). String #2 (white) will stay in slot 2.

50. At this point your pattern will now repeat itself. Repeat steps 5-49 to continue the pattern until your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist.

51. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take strings from the slots 1, 2 & 3 in your left hand and the strings from slots 8, 9 & 10 in your right hand and braid with the remaining 4 center strings.

16. Take string #8 (red) and make 5 left hand double knots. One each, on string #7 (green), string #6 (green), string #5 (white), string #4 (white) & string #3 (red). String #8 (red) will now be in slot 3.

17. At this point your pattern will now repeat itself. Repeat steps 5-16 to continue the pattern until your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist.

18. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take strings from the slots 3 & 4 in your left hand and the strings from slots 7 & 8 in your right hand and braid with the remaining 2 center strings.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN your friendship bracelet pattern, know how to make the Right Hand Double Knot and Left Hand Double Knot.

Setting Up Your Pattern:

1. Align your black thread and fold it in half. Tie a knot at the top.

2. Attach your loop to your FBM and place a black thread in each thread holder 1-10.

3. Take you skein of red thread and wrap it around a spool. Leave about a foot of thread free to work with.

4. Tie the free end of your red thread in a knot on top of the knot you created with the black thread.

5. Remember to print your 1D pattern to assist you in following this pattern!

Tips Before You Begin:

Each thread holder 1-10 is represented by the 1-10 at the top of your grid. This will help you to follow your pattern.

Your red thread will be your background color and the black thread will be your letters and numbers.

•The red thread will NEVER be placed in the thread holders

TIP: Remember to ALWAYS pull your thread tight towards your clip, especially when creating letters and numbers.

Creating the Background: **Use only your red thread to make knots for background**

1. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #1. Replace the black thread in slot #1.

Repeat this pattern with black threads in slots 2-10. Detailed instructions below.

2. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #2. Replace the black thread in slot #2.

3. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #3. Replace the black thread in slot #3.

4. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #4. Replace the black thread in slot #4.

5. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #5. Replace the black thread in slot #5.

6. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #6. Replace the black thread in slot #6.

7. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #7. Replace the black thread in slot #7.

8. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #8. Replace the black thread in slot #8.

Now reverse the pattern with left handed knots to go back the other way.

14. Use the red thread to make a double left-handed knot on the black thread in slot #7. Replace the black thread in slot #7.

15. Use the red thread to make a double left-handed knot on the black thread in slot #6. Replace the black thread in slot #6.

16. Use the red thread to make a double left-handed knot on the black thread in slot #5. Replace the black thread in slot #5.

Making the 1D Pattern:

Note: The X on the directions (after the number) will align with the X’s on the 1D pattern grid.

1. Use the red thread to make a double right-handed knot on the black thread in slot #1. Replace the black thread in slot #1.

2. Use your black thread in slot #2 to make a double left-handed knot on the red thread. Replace the black thread in slot #2.

Now that you’ve COMPLETED the “1D” pattern follow the background instructions to create as much filler space as you want (I used about 15 rows in order to fit 1D three times). When moving to the left use all left-handed knots and when moving to the right use all right-handed knots. When you’re ready to create “1 D” again, make sure your red thread is on the left and follow the “Making the 1D Pattern” instructions.

Finishing Your Bracelet:

When you’re ready to finish you can braid the ends of your loose strings and tie a knot at the end of the braid. Now you’re ready to wear and share!

BEFORE YOU BEGIN your friendship bracelet pattern, know how to make the Right Hand Double Knot and Left Hand Double Knot.

1. Pick 3 different colors. (The example uses purple, black & white). You will need 3 strands of purple, 2 strands of black & 1 strand of white.

2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot ½ inch from fold forming a loop.

3. Attach your ½ inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.

4. Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use the same color in slots 1, 3 & 9 (black), slots 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 (purple) & slots 5 & 7 (white). You will have one extra purple strand & one extra black strand. You will need to cut these two extra strings close to your knot. This will align the colors of your bracelet pattern.

5. To begin, take string #2 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #1 (black). String #2 (purple) will stay in slot 2.

6. Take string #4 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #3 (black). String #4 (purple) will stay in slot 4.

7. Take string #6 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #5 (white). String #6 (purple) will stay in slot 6.

8. Take string #8 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #7 (white). String #8 (purple) will stay in slot 8.

9. Take string #10 (purple) and make a single left single right hand knot with string #9 (black). String #10 (purple) will stay in slot 10.

10. Take string #2 (purple) and make a single right single left hand knot with string #3 (black). String #2 (purple) will stay in slot 2.

54. At this point you have completed one rotation of the pattern. Repeat steps 5 – 53 to continue the pattern until your bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist.

55. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take three strings from the slots 1 – 3 in your left hand and three strings from slots 8 – 10 in your right hand and braid with the remaining 4 center strings.

57. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the butterfly clip and cut off the excess braided section. Your friendship bracelet is ready to wear or share!
